Mobile Chemotherapy Unit Project

Letters from patients

Extracts from two letters received from patients who are receiving treatment on the Unit:

Letter 1

“Just a short note to thank you for organising my visits to the Mobile Chemotherapy Unit at Cirencester. This is a wonderful facility and has been very much appreciated, the staff that run the Unit are very kind and well organised, and I have always been seen on time and given every consideration. There must be a real need for more Units of this kind to be available throughout the country. It must be very expensive to run, but worth every penny to the patient.”

I was really glad that I was told about the Mobile Unit as it has met my needs in every way. Long may it continue to thrive.”

Letter 2

“My husband was treated on the “bus” (Mobile Chemotherapy Unit) in Cirencester often. It made his life so much easier just to travel “just a mile”. It was a Godsend! Do continue with your wonderful efforts. Good luck with the project”

Letter 3

“Having had to have chemotherapy treatment before in the Oncology Department at Cheltenham my husband remained in remission for some months but, unfortunately he has become unwell again and in need of further chemotherapy treatment. Our good news is that, from this week, he will be having his treatment on the “bus” (Mobile Chemotherapy Unit) at Ross-on-Wye (a real boost for him after a ten hour round trip to Cheltenham last week when he was feeling quite poorly).

Our friends have also sent a cheque for us to pass on to you at Hope for Tomorrow as they know how much less stressful it will be for us to have the Mobile Unit available for my husband. Thank you and everyone involved with the Mobile Unit for making it possible”.

Letter 4

“I have been receiving chemotherapy at your Mobile Chemotherapy Unit stationed at Cirencester during the past few months and it has made my treatment easier. The ability to fix an appointment time has been a great help. The staff are always kind and considerate“.

Letter 5

From a supporter whose friends were treated on the Unit: “You have produced a much needed and wonderful enterprise, and I am sure your late husband (Christine’s husband David Mills) would have been very proud of your achievement”.

Letter 6

From another supporter whose friend was also treated on the Unit (my friend) “found the Mobile Unit in Ross-on-Wye the most wonderful relief from travelling to Cheltenham and the long waits she had to endure”.
